Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross - Urbana, IL

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross on sale now at Napleton's Urbana Mitsubishi

One of the latest from the Mitsubishi brand, the new Eclipse Cross is a new small crossover SUV that offers great styling, an outstanding warranty and a fair price. It is loaded with unique styling and impressive features found on vehicles costing thousands more. Best of all, it is available now at Napleton's Urbana Mitsubishi.

What is the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross?

A charming, small Sport Utility Vehicle, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has nothing to do with the old Mitsubishi Eclipse sports car from the early 2000s. In fact, it even has nothing to do with the 2021 Eclipse Cross because there wasn't one. Mitsubishi decided to forego the 2021 Eclipse Cross entirely, moving ahead to a new 2022 model. It is a worthy addition in a segment loaded with tough competitors.

The Eclipse Cross is a five-passenger, four-door hatchback small SUV powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 152 horsepower @ 5,500 rpm and 184 lb-ft of torque @ 2,000 rpm. It's the only engine offered and mates to continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). It delivers power to the pavement via a front-wheel-drive (FWD) or a stellar optional all-wheel-drive system (S-AWD). The 2022 Eclipse Cross features a new, revised suspension with retuned shocks and springs, including larger rear shock shafts for better ride control.  It all goes towards the improvement of the Eclipse Cross's handling and cornering. Remember, it's not a sports car like the old Eclipse, but it does manage to handle and corner better than many of its current competitors.

How does the new Eclipse Cross look?

For 2022, the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross features an entirely new front end. Revised with a more pronounced grille and modified headlight treatment, it hints at the Mitsubishi logo as its inspiration. The previous split window has been replaced with a single piece for better visibility and appearance at the rear. The sloping roofline makes it even sportier and more aggressive-looking.

As a result of the new grille and exterior updates, the 2022 Eclipse Cross stretches the tape measure to 178.9-inches, a five-inch increase over the 2020 model.

What about inside the new Eclipse Cross?

The inside of the new Eclipse Cross has received a good seeing to with improvements throughout. Start with a revised center console with more storage space and a new, improved 8-inch touchscreen display in the Smartphone-link Display Audio system. The new display has been moved two inches closer to the driver and passenger for easier access. The new system is available on LE, SE and SEL trim levels and offers drivers more ways to connect safely while on the road. Additionally, the SDA system now includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Eclipse Cross ES trims are equipped with a standard seven-inch Display Audio touchscreen infotainment system. For the first time, highline SE and SEL models will now include embedded navigation with TomTom live traffic information and mapping. Find yourself stuck in a traffic jam? The TomTom system will help to redirect you to the clearest, fastest route on the way to your final destination.

What's standard, what's extra on the Eclipse Cross?

The entry-level Eclipse Cross ES is loaded for safety in ways that you wouldn't expect on a baseline vehicle. That includes such safeties as forward-collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, power windows and door locks, automatic climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen display and a tilt-telescoping steering wheel. The LE model includes 18-inch alloy wheels, rain sensing wipers, heated front seats and cellular connectivity through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Hitting a perfect balance between price and features is the SE model that includes an eight-way power seat, power folding side mirrors, blind-spot warning with lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, navigation and a push-button start.

Available options for the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross include all-wheel-drive, carpeted floor mats, a cargo mat and a paint pen(!). Step up to the SE and a panoramic sunroof becomes available. The most comprehensive option bundle is the SEL Touring package that brings an upgraded audio system, power sunroof, heated rear seats, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation with high-speed braking and a head-up display. It can all be here in the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.

We can't forget one of your new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross's most critical features: The Mitsubishi Warranty. With it, you receive a basic limited warranty of five years /60,000 miles. For added peace of mind, the powertrain coverage runs ten years /100,000 miles.

There's still plenty to discover about the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Remember, it's not a sports car! It is the new look of Mitsubishi SUVs and it's on sale now at Napleton's Urbana Mitsubishi. Come in, learn more about the Eclipse Cross, and book a test drive today!
