Mitsubishi Outlander Sport - Urbana, IL

The New Mitsubishi Outlander Sport on sale now at Napleton's Urbana Mitsubishi

Not to be confused with its larger Outlander sibling, the new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is one of the latest subcompact SUVs to come from the longtime automaker. Totally updated, it is a decidedly fun vehicle that, in addition to offering tons of value, has the benefit of Mitsubishi's 10-year / 100,000-mile powertrain and 5-year / 60,000-mile basic warranties. That's a rarity in the business, with not many other manufacturers willing to back their vehicles up like that.

What is the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport?

One of Mitsubishi Motors' best-sellers, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is a subcompact four-door five-passenger SUV. It is available with a pair of engine choices, front or all-wheel drive and a host of features that make it attractive to buyers. It is not to be confused with its larger Outlander relative, which features three-row seating.

Power for the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport comes in two flavors. The majority of Outlander Sport models will get power from a 2.0-liter inline-4 cylinder engine that makes 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. It is available in FWD and AWD formats.

Step up to the 2.4-liter inline-4 GT and you'll take advantage of an inline-4 cylinder engine that produces 168 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. It is standard with Mitsubishi's All-Wheel Control (AWC) all-wheel-drive system.

Regardless of engine choice, all Mitsubishi Outlander Sports take advantage of the company's continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Trim levels? We've got 'em!

The Outlander Sport can be had in five trim levels ranging from the base S trim level with 16-inch steel wheels and a 7-inch infotainment screen. All models include such features as hill-start assist, seven standard airbags, forward collision mitigation, stability control, lane departure warning, and auto high beams.

Next up is the ES with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, rain-sensing wipers and automatic on/off headlamps.

The new LE trim level bumps up the infotainment display to 8 inches and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The next step SE model includes a push-button starter, power-folding side mirrors, blind-spot monitoring, lane changing assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Finally, the Mitsubishi  Outlander Sport GT is the big honcho of this outfit, fitted with the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and all-wheel-drive along with soft-touch seating and a remote garage door opener.

How does the Outlander Sport look?

Proportionately perfect, the new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is just the thing for those who live in a major city where parking is at a premium. The strong appearance of the Mitsu grille, which is complemented by the trident logo, presents an assertive view that lets others know who's boss, at least on this block! LED headlights are standard and help set up the wide stance, as seen at the rear of the Outlander Sport.

Depending on trim levels, buyers can enjoy special items like black-finished 18-inch alloy wheels with black side mirror housings and more.

What about the Outlander Sport's Interior?

The interior of the new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport can be summed up in one word: Comfortable. Start with nicely bolstered seating, a detailed, well-designed dashboard, and more. There's an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen (LE and higher trim levels) that appears as though it was made from your smartphone, with clear icons and more. The best part is it is operable by Siri, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Google Assistance and more. And if you choose to turn your way analog-style, you can choose to do so with dashboard controls.

Cargo capacity is within typical sizes for the segment: Cargo space behind the second-row seat measures in at 21.7 cubic feet. Fold those seatbacks forward and that space climbs to 49.5 cubic feet of cargo space.

Behind the wheel of the Outlander Sport

Tight and well-sorted, the new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the perfect around-town runabout or a cross-country road-ready friend set to take you from one end of the country to the other. Our favorite engine is the 2.4-liter four-cylinder which provides extra power without penalizing you at the pump.

One of Mitsubishi's perennial best-sellers, the Outlander Sport provides great value with excellent ride quality. There's great feedback from the steering, along with responsive braking and stability. Our favorite ride comes from the Mitsubishi All-Wheel-Control system.
